NEDAS NEW YORK 2018
Earlier this month, the Northeast DAS & Small Cell Association’s (NEDAS) Sixth Annual NYC Summit took place at Convene NYC.
Our own Greg Najjar participated in a panel that looked at the business cases for indoor wireless coverage solutions. Participants included Paul Fettuccia, President & General Manager, ANS Advanced Network Services LLC; Josh Broder, CEO, Tilson; and Dominic Villecco, President, V-COMM, LLC.
The consensus from the panel was that most smart building owners and management companies have come to terms with the shifting cost dynamics for in-building equipment. After all, neutral hosts and self funding are widely replacing the carrier-funded model.
Where things got really interesting, however, was the discussion on how various building management companies are quantifying the ROI of DAS and in-building solutions. Some are using these solutions as a way to entice new tenants, while others are including the cost of a system into the rents they offer (DAS systems are becoming profit centers).
In short, NEDAS provided a look at how the business model for in-building wireless is changing, but also demonstrated that the shifting market doesn’t need to become a burden for building managers and property owners.
