ADRF Releases Mid-Generation Upgrade for PSR-U Series Digital Repeaters

Introduces AGC per Timeslot and Expands Channel Count Support

Burbank, CA — March 3, 2025 — Advanced RF Technologies, Inc. (ADRF), the largest pure-play distributed antenna system (DAS) and repeater provider for 25 years, today announced improvements to its PSR-U Series of digital repeaters for public safety communications. The PSR-U Series is ADRF’s inaugural line of UL 2524 2nd edition-Certified public safety repeaters, supporting VHF, UHF, and public safety 700 and 800MHz radio frequency (RF) bands.

The mid-generation upgrade adds 40 channels to the public safety 700/800MHz repeaters, up from 32, and 24 channels to the UHF/VHF repeaters, up from 8, as well as significantly reduced delay specifications. All repeaters in the series now offer automatic gain control (AGC) per timeslot, which ensures the output power of each timeslot remains within optimal range to prevent signal distortion or interference.

“The additional channels and AGC per timeslot feature for our popular PSR-U Series repeater reflects our ongoing commitment to help customers improve communications and be adaptable to the changing public safety communication requirements of different regions of the United States,” said Sun Kim, Director of Engineering at ADRF. “Not only does AGC per timeslot offer a more granular approach to ensuring clear RF signal, but it is necessary to meet the need of certain jurisdictions such as Kings County, Washington, which has replaced its current emergency radio system with the Puget Sound Emergency Radio Network (PSERN). ”

In addition, ADRF has released new band-pass filters for UHF/VHF and public safety 700/800 to eliminate noise on unused frequency bands. The company has also released VHF multiplexers for its repeaters and DAS remote units to round out its multiplexer offerings, which combine the transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) channels to a single output and eliminate the need to run separate coaxial cable lines. Both the VHF and UHF multiplexers are IP50 or IP 66-rated and can be mounted inside a PSR-U repeater for more streamlined and cost-effective installation.
