Complete Guide to Auxiliary Radio Communication System (ARCS)

In-building requirements for public-safety communications have been mandated on a statewide basis adapting the IFC and the NFPA standards. The AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) has the final say in interpreting these codes. The FDNY, NYC’s AHJ, requires an Auxiliary Radio Communication System, also known as ARCS. Outside of NYC, these systems are called Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES).
